Midland Open Amateur Championship
Congratulations to Nick Watson who won the Midland Open Amateur Championship over Friday and Saturday 19th and 20th August 2011.
A four round event, the
first round was at Forest Pines where Nick went round in 68 - 5 under par, setting a new course record.
Building on this foundation, Nick played Holme Hall in the afternoon and a followed this score with a 69 - 2 under par.
This left him tied for the lead going into the Saturday, where he scored further rounds at Holme Hall of 4 under par and 1 over par, giving a total of 10 under par and winning the Championship by 2 shots.
Previous winners of the trophy have been Peter McEvoy - 1978, David Howell - 1994 and World number 1 Luke Donald in 1998.
