Approximately 100 Members & Guests attended the Captain's Open Evening on Friday 7th June.
SRGC Chairman Adrian Stannard welcomed all and introduced our new clubhouse hosts Cris & Lis Van Den Enden.
Your Club Captain Simon Mulvey gave a comprehensive roundup of team matches played during May followed by the presentation of vouchers to Members who won a prize in Club Competitions during April & May. Photo shows Calum Weston receiving the President's Shield from Simon.
All attending then enjoyed a lovely buffet prepared by Cris and his staff who'd had a busy day as a large society were only just leaving as guests started to arrive for the evening.
Our guest speaker for the evening was Richard Venables, author of "A Life in Death" who gave an entertaing talk about his 30 years in the police force, the vast majority of which was spent setting up and running a team looking at the identification of victims in major tragedies such as Hillsborough, Morecambe Bay cockle pickers, Thailand Tsunami, various other rail & aircraft crashes. Photo shows Adrian & Richard, who kindly signed copies of his book afterwards.
The most enjoyable evening was rounded off by the various raffles and member draw, which rolls over as the member was not present.
