Captains Welcome 2023

I am delighted to introduce myself as Club Captain for 2023.

It is a great privilege to represent our club as Captain and I will do my best to ensure that we continue to be one of the best golf courses in the region for our members and guests alike. We will continue to evolve by embracing new ideas whilst respecting our traditions and values. We have many things to look forward to as a club including our centenary in 2024 and as we go through this year the plans for that will be finalised and shared with you all.

I am thrilled that Peter Smith has agreed to be my vice-captain, Peter’s wealth of experience will be invaluable and I am looking forward to working with him on the many events we have planned.

I would also like to wish our Ladies Captain Hannah Thorold, Seniors Captain Mike Nixon and Junior Captain Jack Rawson, together with all the team captains, a very successful year, I'm sure they will also be able to count on your support.

This year the money raised from my fund raising events will be used for the benefit of the club by making improvements to our practice facilities and planting many new trees as part of the strategic plan for the course. I will share more details of this as we go through the year.

Finally, as we look forward to another golfing year I would like to thank the management board, pro shop , greenkeepers and our stewards for all their help so far and their continued help throughout the year. Good luck to you all and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible out on the course.

Club Captain 2023

When I was asked to be Lady Captain, I was a little hesitant in accepting as I had not been a member for very long, but the ladies and everyone here at Stoke Rochford Golf Club have made me feel so welcome, I decided to bite the bullet and go for it as it will be an honour to take on the position and represent the ladies' section in this way.

It has been a great pleasure to work alongside Jane White as her Vice-Captain, she has done a brilliant job over the last year, she should be proud of herself and leaves me a tough act to follow.

I will look forward to the year ahead working with my Vice Captain, Committee and all the ladies within the section, with the aim to thrive and grow. Golf is a fun and social game and we will work to build on that.

My chosen charity for this year will be Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance. They are a local charity that do a fantastic job in some very tricky circumstances, having spent sometime at their head office, I have a deeper insight into how they work and the help they need as a charity.

I would like to thank the club, committees, greens staff, clubhouse staff and pro shop for all their hard work to make this club the outstanding club it is and one we should be proud of.

I am looking forward to working alongside Club Captain Gareth and representing the club this year.

I would like to wish you all an enjoyable golfing year ahead.
