The Memory of Chris Jones lives on, and on Saturday 13th July, Over 167 people shared that memory!
With 52 morning members, and 115 consisting of early birds, family, friends and guests took part in the "Chris Jones Memorial Tournament"
The tournament has proved to be one of the most well supported events at Stoke Rochford GC in the 7 years it has taken place.
People have always played in a lively and enthusiastic way, the way Chris himself would always play golf!
The Weather on the day was good and dry.
Many refreshments were consumed:-
500 sausage rolls consumed and about 15 cakes - and the normal numerous bottles of Prosecco, barrel of beer, lots of larger and cider, even the odd Pimm’s
The atmosphere on the day was very relaxed and chilled, Barry, Will and Rachel thought it seemed to be the most chilled and smooth it had been. There seemed to be more time to spend with their guests.
Everyone enjoyed the evening meal with very good feedback received
Barry, Rachel and Will would like to express their thanks to:-
Chris and Liz for keeping everyone fed and watered throughout the day in the clubhouse.
Angus & Matt were a superb help in the pro shop with all the cards etc, together with Pam for helping Angus and in closing the competition on the computer
All the helpers in the halfway house - Barry & Will early stint to meet the early birds at 7.45am / Mandy, Katie & Hannah / Andy & Mike / Heather, Julie and Barb - superb job all of them - thanks
It was brilliant to see so many of Chris's friends and family get together again to reminisce - some sad moments but mostly a day filled with laughter!
This year we raised £920 on the auction, and a total raised of £3286.24, throughout the day.
Will did mention in his speech that we had raised over £17,000 in the first six years, with this years raised amount this will bring the total for the seven years to approximately £21,000
With money going in the first 2 years to The British Heart Foundation and all other years to The Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.
