Captain's Weekend

To all Members I do hope you are all keeping well and are enjoying your golf.

I am writing to let you know what I am planning for my Captain's Weekend 24th/25th July.

On Saturday 24th, there will be a 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford Comp with 2 scores to count on each hole, all members can play £5 per person to enter. Book a Tee Time as normal on BRS, enter and pay via the pro shop as usual. Completed cards to be handed into the pro-shop following completion of the round.

On Sunday 25th the tee will be open for members booking via BRS until 11.30am. There will be a singles Stableford Competition, usual entry requirements via the club system £3 entry fee. Completed scores to be entered onto the system as normal.

After 11.30am I am inviting my guests to come and play to support my weekend. The tee will open again for members after the guests at around 1.30pm but there will be no entry to the competition after this time as prizes will need to be decided and awarded by late afternoon.

The half-way house will be open as normal all weekend manned by Viv.  On both Saturday & Sunday free Coffee, Tea and Squash will be available to all members playing in the comps. A glass of beer will also be available to those who fancy something stronger,

Following play being completed on Sunday at approx. 17-30hrs, David Edwards will be holding his trick show on the first hole. David & I have become great friends over many years so for him to bring his show to the club is absolutely fantastic. David will be on the course throughout Sunday so please feel free to speak with him

All those playing on Sunday and those members who would like to come up to watch David’s Trick Shot show are welcome. The club are supporting my day by running a BBQ all day for everyone to have some food, Cris and the team I am sure will do a brilliant job looking after all of us.

I will present prizes after David has completed his show on Sunday, the BBQ will run all day so I do hope you will join me, please come along relax and enjoy my Captains weekend with me.

Kind Regards

James Footitt

SRGC Club Captain

Midland Youths Open Amateur Championships

  • During next week we're hosting the above eventhave a look at the starting list where over 100 players with handicaps averaging at about 1 or maybe 2 are playing, why not come along for an hour or two and see how these young players strike the ball, you never know, you may see someone you recognise as a global star in years to come. Good luck to Max Braime especially who is representing SRGC.

After the brief course closure we have a couple of competitions next weekend, a Stableford on Saturday and the Discoll Sheppard Mixed Medal on Sunday, the next instalment of our Millennium Trophy season long aggregate points competition.  The following weekend we have a Medal on Saturday followed by the Angus Dow Putter, the 2nd time that new trophy will be competed for after Harry Gibbons won it in 2020.
