Midweek Stableford Results

Over 100 players entered the Midweek Stableford on a very oppressive day with little or no breeze until early afternoon, many players struggled in the heat but some thrived with excellent scores being posted to reduce the CSS 69. Alan Church recorded the best score with 42 points, having been a single figure player since 2014 the shock of going to 10 in last weekend's Club Championshipsclearly  spurred him on and he's back down to 9.2 within just 4 days! Another excellent result also from Jack Rawson, his 41 points earned him an Exceptional Scoring Reduction after a couple of great scores in the last 3 weeks.

Gents Club Championships R1 Results & Sunday start times

The 1st round was played on one of the warmest days of the year but the strong breeze, coming rather unusually from the North-North-East, clearly affected scoring with many established players struggling. As it's a 36 hole competition no results are available yet, but the current standings can be seen below.

Thank you to Rod Rawson for acting as starter for both Gents & Ladies Competitions, a fabulous effort to be repeated on Sunday, we are indebted as always.

The 2s club is run independently on each day, 6 players had 2s today but Ben Rawson's was an eagle on 13 so he receives a double share. Ben sadly found out today that he cannot play in Sunday's 2nd round, and considering that his nett score of 68 today was the best of the day that's a real shame, I also note that his nett 68 playing off 9 included a quadruple bogey on the 8th, so a really exceptional round was so close but just eluded him.

Good luck to all playing in the 2nd round.

Junior Fun Day

Rod Rawson & Angus Dow held a very successful Junior Fun Day on Wednesday 29th July.

Some of the "more senior" Juniors came along to help out and all enjoyed putting competitions set out by Angus including some team events, finishing with an individual competition. Then it was over to the practice ground where they received tuition from Angus.

Lunch followed in the clubhouse, socially distanced of course, and then it was back out on the course in the afternoon, when the older juniors went off to play as many holes as time allowed. The younger juniors went with Angus, Rod and Eddie Plant as supervisors to play some reduced yardage holes. This was the first time some of the younger ones had actually been out on "the big course", and judging from the feedback, it left them "buzzing" and wanting more which is a fantastic result, click on the photos to see larger images.
Thank you and well done to everyone involved, another Junior Fun Day will be held later on in the year.
