Good Friday Stableford Results

After the amazing weather midweek the colder winds today didn't put off 109 players from entering the Good Friday Stableford.

Full list of scores & results can be seen here

I'll take this opportunity to remind all players that YOU need to ensure your score is entered into the computer system either by :-

  1. Entering it yourself using the MSI app on your Phone whilst at the Club
  2. Entering it yourself as soon as you arrive home using a Phone, Tablet, Laptop or PC
  3. Politely asking the Pro Shop Staff to do it for you if you are unable to use either of the options above

When the PSI system in the Clubhouse is brought back into use after the removal of COVID restrictions that will replace Option 3 above.

It is not acceptable to just leave your card in the box without ensuring the scores are entered using one of the above methods as it causes too much additional work for whichever volunteer is closing the competition that day. Please also remember that you MUST return your card regardless of the number of holes you complete. Persistent offenders failing to return their card will be removed from the competition without any refund of the entry fee.

 Upcoming competitions :-

  • Easter Saturday Mixed Par-Bogey (NQC)
  • Easter Sunday Gents Stableford
  • Easter Monday Pinehurst Foursomes
    • Play in pairs as booked on BRS
    • Both players drive off
    • Player A then plays Player B's ball and Player B plays Player A's ball
    • Select whichever ball is in the best position and play alternate shots from that point onwards until holing out
    • Repeat on each hole

Midweek Mixed Stableford Results

A slightly disappointing field of 39 players entered the Midweek Mixed Stableford, probably due to this being only the 2nd day after golf restarted. For Mark Swatton however, his investment in a practise net and top class putting green (both those things all in my imagination almost certainly) paid off with his score of 41 points whilst most other players struggled to get near their handicaps.

The Easter weekend sees 4 separate competitions scheduled, with golf only just restarting and many players still not been out to hit a few shots there are a couple of Non Qualifying Competitions to start with, and after that we'll be pretty much into QCs until the end of the regular season in October.

  • Good Friday Mixed Stableford (NQC)
  • Easter Saturday Mixed Par-Bogey
  • Easter Sunday Gents Stableford
  • Easter Monday Pinehurst Foursomes
    • Play in pairs as booked on BRS
    • Both players drive off
    • Player A then plays Player B's ball and Player B plays Player A's ball
    • Select whichever ball is in the best position and play alternate shots from that point onwards until holing out
    • Repeat on each hole

Gents Locker Rooms are being extended

To help with our increased membership numbers the Gents Locker Rooms are being extended utilising what was previously the Board Room as an extra changing space.

Furniture is on order to be fitted probably in early April, but we employed a top team of local decorators at extortionate rates to kick things off with a lick of paint.

Many thanks to them all

SRGC is a Golfshake Highly Recommended Course for 2021

The hard work, commitment and support of all Staff, Contractors & you the Members has resulted in SRGC being named by Golfshake as a Highly Recommended Course to visit in 2021.

Golfshake reviews summarise those expressed by real people who have visited & played our fantastic course and probably used our catering facilities rather than a journalistic half day walk around for a fee.

We should all take time to thank Gareth & his excellent staff for their hard work & expertise improving & presenting the course in ever better condition year after year, the investment in new equipment approved by your Management Board in recent years is paying off massively with an increasing number of accolades, members, visitors and requests from well respected golf organisations to hold events at our Club.

Similarly, Cris, Lis & their hard working team provide top quality catering facilities alongside the comprehensive services offered by JB & his team in the Pro Shop.

Please support them all when we return to golf in a few weeks, 2020 and the early part of 2021 has been extremely challenging but I'm sure you'll all agree winning accolades such as the Golfshake commendation makes it all worthwhile.

COVID UPDATE 21.12.20

In the light of the rapidly changing Government Regulations surrounding the Covid 19 epidemic the Club must regretfully announce the NO members, guests or visitors who are resident in a tier 4 area can visit the Club until further notice.

The Club’s Board are reviewing advice and instructions from Government and Golf England on a regular basis and will reconsider this restriction should there be any further announcements.
