For the 81 players who entered, phew, I hope you've all recovered from 36 holes played in pretty tough conditions especially those going out towards the end of the field on both days, looking across the scores generally gives a good indication of just how difficult it was in the heat, humidity and blustery wind.
The course as we have come to expect was in excellent condition, missing the fairways resulting in tough 2nd & 3rd shots and I'm told the greens putted beautifully, well done Gareth and your team, a fantastic job given the challenging weather conditions recently. Thank you also to Rod Rawson who took on the role of starter on both days and was still wandering around checking how everyone was progressing at the end of the 36 holes as the final groups came in.
Congratulations to Ben Schiavi, winner of the 36 Hole Gross competition with a score of 142, very closely followed by Ian Braime with his 144, similar congratulations to Kevan Lambert, winner of the 36 Hole Nett competition with a score of 139, again narrowly beating Dave Esswood into 2nd place with his 141. Ben & Kevan are eligible to represent SRGC in the LUGC Hotchkin, Taylor & Butlin Cups event whilst Ian & Dave can play in the LUGC Sir Henry Lunn Shield event, I'll be in touch to check your availability.
