Excellent weather conditions for the earlier starters became somewhat humid by early afternoon for the later starters, but a large field of 53 groups, 212 players, enjoyed a great day's golf on our course which is in excellent condition despite many weeks without any significant rainfall. Many Visitors & Members complimented Gareth and his hard working team, thanks guys!!
Scoring was reasonable rather than fantastic initially with 87 points from the 2nd group out leading in the clubhouse for many hours, until quite late in the afternoon when two groups came in with 91 points, only separated by a back 9 countback. Congratulations to both of those teams for returning great scores on a tricky day.
SRGC Members who were not at the presentation will have their accounts credited, similarly for Visitors where an account will be opened for you and winnings deposited there. The same applies to Members that were in the 2s club, accounts will be credited in the next few days. For Visitors in the 2s club, I will contact your group organiser in the next couple of days and arrange an electronic transfer of your winnings.
Thanks to many people who helped out on the day, Gary & Josie for running the raffle, Phil, Rod & Don for their starter duties, Angus for setting up the prize table, Viv in the halfway house, Andy & Tracy who with their staff worked tirelessly the whole day supplying food and drink to all, the Greens staff for preparing the course to such a high standard and last but not least to my daughter Sophie who manned the registration / scorers desk for 5-6 hours whilst I played.
Note that Gary is organising an Open Pairs Better Ball Stableford on Friday 20th July raising funds for our Centenary, there are still some places available, contact him (details in the link above) to claim your place.
