I thought I'd already posted information about this but as two separate people mentioned it to me over the weekend it seems I probably didn't!!
Gents SSS for the White & Yellow tee markers was amended to 71 & 70 respectively at the end of October last year, after a brief discussion with England Golf to understand why the change was necessary we accepted the new measurement and our systems were changed in early November 2018.
For info, the measurement process is very scientifiic, considering length, elevation changes, slopes on the fairways, landing areas from your tee shots, length of rough and it's proximity to the fairways, number & depth of bunkers, typical speed on the greens, slopes on the greens and various others. These are fed into an algotithm that produces the rating. The rating is designed to be consistent across all courses. so England Golf "insist" we apply the recommended rating, although appeals would be considered. We did not appeal after the process had been clearly explained and understood.
The Ladies rating of 72 from the Red tee markers was not changed, actually it did increase from the previous 71.5 measurement up to 72.4, but this did not impact the SSS rating.
The new certificate will be displayed in the locker rooms in the next couple of days.
Apologies for any confusion.
