Autumn has finally arrived for the ladies last medal of the season. In 1st place was Jackie Witten with 99-22-77 (OCB) from Pauline Haggerty with 91-14-77 in 2nd place and Sue Booth was 3rd with 91-12-79.
GOLDSBOROUGH BOWL WEDNESDAY 9TH OCTOBER 2019
On a cool and windy Wednesday the Ladies and Seniors lined up to play in their annual match for the Goldsborough Bowl. The Captains choice this year was an unusual stableford based better ball matchplay which initially taxed some brains but as usual the event was great fun and played in a very competitive spirit. This years winners were the seniors with an aggregate score of 82 holes to the ladies 62 but the star of the day was Sue Booth who had hole in one on the third. The competition was followed by an excellent buffet lunch in the Clubhouse and the trophy presentation.
JUNE MARLOW CELEBRATES 90TH BIRTHDAY 4TH OCTOBER 2019
At the monthly Captains Presentation Evening on Friday 4th October June Marlow who was Lady Captain in 1989 was presented with a bouquet of flowers from the Ladies Section to celebrate her 90th birthday. June still plays a few holes with husband John and it is always lovely to see her in the clubhouse afterwards.
AUTUMN OPEN AM/AM TUESDAY 1ST OCTOBER 2019
Stoke Rochford Golf Club lived up to its reputation this week for being a beautiful, challenging course that is playable all year round even in the worst weather conditions. The ladies hosted their Autumn Open on Tuesday1st October and in atrocious conditions Ladies from 24 clubs around the country travelled to play in the AM/AM competition. The final scores on the day attested to the players fortitude and the course playability. In 1st place with 78 points OCB were Sue Brown, Helen Bradshaw, Sue Simpson (Sleaford) and Chris Bishop (Kenwick Park), in 2nd place also with 78 points were Jane Houghton, Lynda Fitches, Joan Mitford and Sally Harrington (all Rutland Water). In 3rd place were Mary Hubbard, Christine King, Jane Jackson, and Debbie Foster (Bourn) with 77 points OCB from Margaret Yelland (Lincoln), Jackie Friend, Diedre Ginnity and Lesley Young (Greetham Valley) with 77 points taking 4th. Lady Captain Karen Rawson was extremely grateful to all of the Ladies who bought raffle tickets on the day raising £200 for her chosen charity this year Transverse Mylitis.
