Stoke Seniors 23rd Open Championship - Torrential rain throughout the morning made Stoke Seniors Open very challenging with the thoughts of a second postponement in three years very much in everyone's thoughts. Of the 129 entrants 28 decided not to play because of the very wet conditions. Despite the conditions some excellent scores were returned with Stoke players dominating the prize list.
Overall winner, winner of Group A and the Ben Tyler Trophy was Jeff Purdy with 40 points ocb, 2nd in Group A Y.Kong of Nene Park also 40 pts, and 3rd G.Winship of Radcliffe 38;
Winner of group B was Keith Dugmore 40 points, 2nd Barrie Dawson of Burghley Park 36, and 3rd Club Chairman Adrian Stannard 35. Winner of Group C was Graham Manton 36 points, 2nd Barry Mitchell 36 points and 3rd Don Werner 35 points.
Seniors Captain Cliff Mills presented the prizes and congratulated Mike Dickinson for his organisation throughout and particularly on a difficult day. Many thanks to all the helpers, on the desk, as starters, ladies on the raffle table, and to the ladies headed by Norma Varley who manned the very welcome halfway house.

Lincolnshire Past & Present Senior Captains Day.
A sparkling day superbly organised by Don’s Werner his committee & small Army of able helpers who not only marshalled the large field from across Lincolnshire but also fed & watered them, the Stoke Rochford past captains responded in kind by winning the Team Salver (Keith Dugmore, Mick Rance & Alan Jessop) with a Team score of 107, well done to all involved
There were 150 competitors from around the county, all the visitors agreed the course was difficult but fair & had a enjoyable time
