I am delighted to introduce myself as Club Captain for 2023.
It is a great privilege to represent our club as Captain and I will do my best to ensure that we continue to be one of the best golf courses in the region for our members and guests alike. We will continue to evolve by embracing new ideas whilst respecting our traditions and values. We have many things to look forward to as a club including our centenary in 2024 and as we go through this year the plans for that will be finalised and shared with you all.
I am thrilled that Peter Smith has agreed to be my vice-captain, Peter’s wealth of experience will be invaluable and I am looking forward to working with him on the many events we have planned.
I would also like to wish our Ladies Captain Hannah Thorold, Seniors Captain Mike Nixon and Junior Captain Jack Rawson, together with all the team captains, a very successful year, I'm sure they will also be able to count on your support.
This year the money raised from my fund raising events will be used for the benefit of the club by making improvements to our practice facilities and planting many new trees as part of the strategic plan for the course. I will share more details of this as we go through the year.
Finally, as we look forward to another golfing year I would like to thank the management board, pro shop , greenkeepers and our stewards for all their help so far and their continued help throughout the year. Good luck to you all and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible out on the course.
